Company History

  • 1975 Peter Phelps establishes his own custom home and renovation company, called Peter Phelps and Associates with a handful of employees
  • 1983 Paul Phelps, son of Peter Phelps, joins the family business
  • 1995 Paul Phelps takes over as president
  • 1996 Peter Phelps retires
  • 1997 - 2002 Paul Phelps served as a Member of the ONHWP (Ontario New Home Warranty Program) Communications Committee of the Board of Directors
  • 1999 and 2004 Paul Phelps appointed to the Regional Municipality of Niagara Public Advisory Committee on Development Charges
  • 2000 - 20001 Phelps Homes received the Grimsby Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year Award
  • 2000/2001 Paul Phelps Pesident and Board Member of the Niagara Home Builder’s Association (NHBA)
  • 2000 - 2001 Paul Phelps, President of Phelps Homes, received Member of the Year Award for the Niagara Home Builders' Association (NHBA)
  • 2001 - 2002 Paul Phelps received the Member of the Year Award for the Ontario Home Builders' Association (OHBA)
  • 2003 Company rebranded as Phelps Homes Ltd.
  • 2003 Phelps Homes Ltd. sets up four distinct divisions: New Home Construction, Renovations, Project/Land Development, Sales and Marketing
  • In 2003/4 as member of the new Grimsby Library and Art Gallery fundraising committee, Phelps Homes helped raise over $25,000
  • 2004 Paul Phelps made a presentation to the Standing Committee on General Government concerning Bill 27 – The Greenbelt Protection Act0
  • 2004 - 2005 Paul Phelps served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Home Builders' Association (OHBA)
  • 2004 - 2005 and 2005 - 2006 Paul Phelps was Chair of the OHBA Annual Conference
  • 2005 - 2006 Paul Phelps served as Presidential Appointee for the OHBA
  • 2006 Paul Phelps currently serves on the executive of the Ontario Home Builders' Association (OHBA)
  • 2006 Phelps Homes Ltd. is a member of the CHBA (Canadian Home Builders' Association), OHBA (Ontario Home Builders' Association), NHBA, (Niagara Home Builders Association) and the HHHBA (Hamilton Halton Home Builders' Association)
  • 2006 Phelps Homes donated construction materials to assist with the building of the new Caistorville Library
  • 2006 Phelps Homes was a major sponsor of the 2006 Women’s Hospital Auxiliary Fashion Show - $18,000 was raised to go towards the building of the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital
  • 2006 Paul Phelps made a presentation to the Grimsby Probus Group (Retired Professional Business Men and Women) on Development Issues, Greenbelt Legislation, and Places to Grow Act using one of its successful conversion projects, Carnegie Lofts, as an example
  • In 2006, Ron Eyk, Phelps Homes Renovations Manager, spearheaded the formation of the Niagara Home Builders' Association's Renovation Council
